Blerg?

Blerg.

I recently traveled down to Portland with my two best buddies, and purchased one of those five year diary things (you write one sentence a day). I thought that I would like it once I was older to look back and see all the cool things that I did. Unfortunately after a week of writing in it I have quickly realized that I am not that exciting. So here is to forcing more exciting things to happen in my life. Cheers.

Since I haven't blogged in FOREVER a few exciting things have happened in my life.

Nelson and I have fallen deeper in love. (look up we are recreating one daniel and i took years ago)

I went to Hawaii with my groovy family. Can I move there?

Beautiful.

I got to know my brothers cat Manny a little better than I did before. Even though he can catch treats in the air does not mean he is better than Nelson. Nelson is perfect.

Seriously though a big thanks to Liz Lemon for the word blerg. I feel like I have been saying it constantly lately.

I think that it is safe to say that I have mastered the sock bun.

So a few months ago I got a new job. Yay!

I am working for a wonderful company in the plumbing supply industry. 

I am a trainee. Part of the trainee position involves a few months in the warehouse. Last week was my last week in the warehouse. Here are a few things that I learned:

1. Always wear a sports bra on a forklift.

2. Sometimes you need more than one sports bra.

3. I look awful in a bright orange dirty vest.

4. You can manage to still look damn fine in a bright orange dirty vest.

5. There is no such thing as a cute steel toed boot.

6. If you ask about cute steel toed boots you will be presented with a not so cute steel toed boot.

7. It is hard to have a social life while doing physical work 50 hours a week.

8. Working hard makes a paycheck feel amazing.

9. My father is similar to a King.

10. I love my job.

Summer.

I have been off all summer too busy to post! I guess that is a good indicator that it was a good summer. Hopefully we still have a few more weeks.

I have been busy slaughtering fish.

I have been busy going on many summertime dates!

I have been busy celebrate this boy's birthday.

I have been busy looking awesome at the Evergreen State Fair.

I have been busy learning how to golf.

I have been enjoying the sun with friends!

I have been busy going to 5 million summer concerts.

I have been busy snuggling at Bocce.

Yeah I know, I've been lazy.

It has been beautiful out and I have been crazy busy so can you really blame me?

Let's catch up.

We celebrated this handsome boy's 4th birthday,

and obviously spoiled him with tons of presents and love!

Went to the cabin. Saw the grandparents.

Daniel met Sarah Palin.

Daniel became obsessed with golf, and Nelson claimed a pillow as his.

We found out that our apartment gets very hot during the summer, and makes us all sleepy.

We finally decorated.

Last but not least. I became an artist, as you can obviously tell this is Daniel and I.

Anyways, Theno's had closed an my heart has shattered. I love this photo because it really captures how the employees who have poured their hearts felt about the closing. We sat there for quite a long time just remembering the great times.

This long weekend has been crazy!

Went out backpacking to Shi Shi beach on the coast. I got back yesterday and I am still so incredibly sore, but it was SO worth it. Hooray!

This week I have had way too many sweets so what is a better photo of the week than the most delicious sweet that I had this week.

P.S. At Brave Horse Tavern this week I literally just ordered a beer and a chocolate chip cookie.

False Alarm.

This morning we were startled awake by the buildings fire alarm.

Sweet Nelson and I instantly made eye contact and he was terrified. I yelled at Dan to grab him while I ran and got his cat carrier upstairs. Eventually we made it down and out of the building where we sat for about 15 minutes until it was good to go back in the building. Apparently someone had pulled the fire alarm in the garage. Once we got back in the alarm kept randomly going off for the next two hours. So Nelson ran and hid in my closet and I followed him and sat with him for awhile.

We spent the rest of the afternoon cuddling and enjoying the sounds of silence.

So glad that my first instinct is to rescue this cute guy. Don't know what I would do without him.

Thrilled.

I am thrilled beyond belief.

The time has finally come that I will be reunited with my all time favorite sunglasses. The original pair I treated like gold for 2 years until they broke one summer on a roller coaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. I've been hoarding $5 amazon gift-cards that I get here and there in hopes I would be able to find something fun.

Then today it happened I was looking for Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume and I saw my sunglasses! They were on sale, and with my gift-cards that I had saved up I only had to spend $15 on them. Hooray!

 

They are even in the color that I originally had them in.

I can already tell that this summer is going to be fantastic.

Purple.

I saw a post over at A Beautiful Mess and was instantly inspired, so I decided to dye one of my own "forgotten" dresses.

The dress.

This dress was the dress I wore under my white high school graduation gown in 2006.

It is a free people dress, and it still fits great. The only reason that I don't wear it anymore is some burns from ironing and some stains from food over the years.

The new color.

Purple! I love purple and always have, and I love almost every shade of purple.

I mixed it in my kitchen sink. It worked out really well and didn't stain the sink at all.

The dress turned out beautiful! I can't wait to wear it. What would you wear it with?

 What a crazy week.

Mail!

One of the best things in life is opening up your mailbox and seeing an unexpected surprise.

Typically my mailbox is filled with coupons and junk mail but not today.

An actual letter from a faraway friend. I couldn't be happier. So much better than a online message. I even received a little tin of goodies along with the letter.

Growing up we use to draw houses just like this as a plan for our future lives. 

I love that she found this card.

I love my goodies and unexpected surprises.

I think I will start sending fun things to all my faraway friends.

Such an fun way to stay connected.

Black.

I am stuck. Every morning I end up wearing a black top of some sort.

Now that it is spring and the sun is finally coming out I need to add some color into my outfits.

Here is what I wore yesterday:

Black tank, black top, black bag, black scarf, and black headband.

Yikes! Please don't get me wrong I love wearing dark/neutral colors, but when it is spring I feel like some color is needed. 

Do you ever get stuck wearing the same color over and over?

I can't stop listening to Johnny Cash. It has been a few months of this obsession.

April

I can't believe another month has gone by. 

This year is going by way too fast. 

(Now if only my unpacking process would do the same.)

Here are my January new years resolutions:
 
1. Read more books. Now that I am out of school I can read the books that I never had time for. My goal is two a month.
2. Get outside more. Simple enough I just need to do it.
3. Eat healthier. More veggies. Less soda and junk. 
4. Get active again. I need to find a fun way to stay in shape that wont drive me crazy. 
5. Spend less money on small things. Spend more money on big things. (like trips!)

Here is my April progress report:
1. I read one, but its a long one! So it should count as two. 
2. Its cold and rainy! I got out on the sunny days. 
3. I have been eating waaay less junk, soda is a whole different topic. Luckily Trader Joe's is only 2 blocks away from me now!
4. I have been out walking around way more. There are so many fun things to walk to in my new neighborhood. I love it.
5. I still need to save up for a camera, but moving is expensive. Yikes.

Please ignore my excuses  for not getting some of these done :) 

Is it summer yet? As much as I love this scarf I am getting tired of needing to wear it.
